| Description: | Making New Traditions Brookings, SD Featuring newly created artwork by eight emerging Native American artists with tribal ties to northern plains. These artists approach creativity with their eyes wide open to the layers, complexities and truths of our time with respect for cultural identity and tradition. They are inspired by modern as well as traditional, and communicate their experiences as contemporary indigenous people, striving to create progressive statements in Native Art. The exhibit is being organized by the Rapid City Arts Council at the Dahl Arts Center with the Heritage Center at Red Cloud Indian School Pine Ridge, SD and curated by Mary Maxon, Curator of Exhibits (Dahl); Mary Bordeaqux (Sicangu Lakota), Curator (Heritage Center); and Peter Strong, Director (Heritage Center).
